LASG Says 24000 Vehicles In Lagos State Are Not Road Worthy

 The Commissioner for Transportation, Lagos State Dr Ekundayo Mobereola has stated that, out of the 1.2 million operational vehicles in Lagos State, 24,000 are not road worthy. He stated this at a conference in Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa while marking the 2016 bi-annual safety week.
 He said "Safety is not just a government thing. rather, it is for all citizens. When you maintain a vehicle, you are guaranteeing a life. There are no economic arguments for allowing rickety vehicles, just simply because we cannot place premium on any life."
 He said that, along with South Africa, Nigeria has the highest number of fatality rates in Africa.
