Reduction Of Board Meetings & Their Allowances Could Save Up To A Billion Naira

The Ministry of Finance have discovered that the average annual expenditure on sitting allowances between 2012 and 2014 was N12.8 billion.
 The Director of Information,  Ministry of Finance,  Salisu Na' inna Dambatta in a statement said that by 2010, part time Chairmen of government Committees ans Boards were paid sitting allowances ranging from N30,000 to N120,000 per sitting from four to eight times per annum.
 The Efficiency Unit recommended that "A maximum of four meetings was considered adequate for Boards while other interactions can be conducted using Information Communication Technology (ICT) which is cheaper and already tested in Nigeria.
