Fire Guts Market in Onitsha, Over 300 Shops Affected

Late on Friday night, fire razed in some parts of Glorious Market Onitsha, Sokoto Road close to River Niger, Anambra state, over 300 shops were affected.

 Goods said to be worth over N50 million was lost, it was by God's grace that no life was lost but that some "greedy" traders sustained injuries while trying to rescue their goods.
 The market is occupied mainly by traders doing their business in shops constructed with pans occupying major part of road near Onitsha South, trading in both male and female casual wears and other cloths.

 The Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Fegge Police Division, Mr. Ribiu Garba said the fire incident affected U.S.A Line and started at about 9 PM, and was one of the first people t arrive at the scene with men of the Okpoko Fire Service station and their counterpart from Onitsha Main Market, who made efforts to put off the fire.
