Research Shows How massive Fake Accounts Are present on Twitter

A recent research has shown that over 350 thousand twitter accounts are fake. Meaning that they are being used to fake follower numbers, send spam messages and boost interest in trending topics.

 It has being discovered that on twitter, bots are accounts run remotely by someone who automates the messages they send and activities they carry out.

 Some people may even pay to get bots to follow their account or to dilute chatter about controversial subjects.

 Mr. Juan Echeverria, a Computer Scientists at UCL who carried out the research said “It is difficult to assess exactly how many twitter uses are bots.”
