Shell Wins Court case Against Niger Delta Pollution Claims
A UK court has ruled in favour of Anglo-Dutch oil
giant, Shell on Thursday in a case brought by residents of Niger Delta over oil
spillage in the region.
The court
agreed with Shell’s argument that the case should be heard in Nigeria, while
the claimants had argued they could only get justice in British courts.
UK law firm
Leigh Day which is representing the two communities, says the claims are over “extensive
environmental damage caused by oil pollution.”
