A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Maraba, Nasarawa
State, on Friday sentenced a labourer (Kpon Kpon Rocker) named Musa Saide, aged 27, to six months in prison for criminal
trespass.
Saide, resident of Mararaba, had
pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of criminal trespass and attempt to
commit an offence of theft leveled against him and was sentenced accordingly.
The Magistrate, Vincent Gwahemba, gave
the convict an option to pay fine of N3, 000 and advised him to desist from
committing any crime.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Okoro, had
told the court that one Abubakar Musa of Old Karu Road, Mararaba, reported the
matter at the ‘A’ Division Police Station on May 22.
Okoro said that on the same date, the
convict entered the complainant house, at the above mentioned address without
his consent.
He said that the convict entered there
with an intention to steal anything valuable.
The prosecutor said that during police
interrogation, the convict admitted committing the offence, which contravened
Sections 95 and 345 of Penal Code.
