Cross River Civil Servants Commence Indefinite Strike
The Civil servants in Cross River State has begun
an indefinite strike today Tuesday 30th May, 2017.
The decision
was made known through “bulletin 1/2017” captioned “commencement of
indefinite strike action”.
The bulletin
which was dished out by the Organized Labour Action Committee arrived at the
industrial action arising from an enlarged congress of Cross River State
Civil/Public servants held Wednesday 24th May, 2017.
The reason
for the strike according to them is “Suspension of promotion of deserving civil
servants up to 2016, payroll consultant disengagement, illegal deduction of
workers salary, full payment of retirees, imprest to MDA’s, resolution of NURTW
impasse in Cross River State and payment of newly appointed Permanent
Secretaries their salaries”.
It was
observed that public offices and schools in the state have remained shut since
Tuesday morning.
