Tambuwal visits Lamido, reacts to speculations on return to PDP
Aminu Waziri
Tambuwal, the Sokoto State Governor on Tuesday met with former governor of
Jigawa, Sule Lamido.
Tambuwal
visited Lamido in his hometown of Bamaina in Jigawa.
After the
meeting, Tambuwal told the Media not to read meaning to his presence.
He explained
that he only paid condolence visit to Lamido over the death of his daughter,
who died late July.
“I’m here on
a condolence visit, not politics please”, he said.
Reacting to
a question, he said the committee set up by the PDP to contact its former
members had not reached him.
”No they
have not reached me. But let me restate that my loyalty to my party, the All
Progressives Congress, remains unshaken”, he added.
Tambuwal
insisted that he had no plan of going back to the PDP.
There are
speculations that some PDP chieftains who defected to the APC in the build-up
to the 2015 general elections were planning to go back to return.
It is no
longer news that Lamido, a strong member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
is strategizing to become the party’s presidential candidate in 2019.
