Man dies (drowns) after having an accident in Third Mainland Bridge
It was
revealed that an unknown man was retrieved dead from a Ford Explorer salon car
which plunged into the ocean from Third Mainland Bridge after an accident on
Saturday, October 28.
The Lagos
State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit (LRU) were on ground
to retrieve the car from the ocean and control the resulting traffic.
At about 10:
pm, the Ford Explorer salon car and a
Toyota Camry were involved in the accident that happened towards the last
quarter of the Third Mainland Bridge close to Oworonshoki.
The other
passengers in the Toyota (about two other people) grabbed the girl, threw her
back into the car and sped off. They were heard saying 'if the police come
here, they'll say we caused the accident and arrest us'. It took the Lagos
State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Response Unit (LRU) about an hour to
get to the scene of the accident.
A reporter on ground learnt that the Ford
salon car which was over speeding, hit the Toyota Camry in the back before it
plunged into the ocean.

the dead body from the car (Pulse)
The man was
the only passenger in the Ford that plunged into the ocean while the Toyota
Camry had a lady behind the steering wheel. There were also two people with her
in the car.
Pulse learnt
that the lady driving the Camry initially stopped when she discovered that the
Ford had plunged into the ocean. She cried and shouted for hep before she
entered the car and fled the scene for fear of being arrested by the police.
“If the police come here, they'll say we
caused the accident and arrest us,” the lady and her passengers were heard
saying before they fled from the scene.
The LRU
arrived at the scene an hour after the accident and it took them 25 minutes to
pull the Ford from the water.
It took them another 30 minutes to cut open
the car to get to the man who was already dead. His corpse was put in a body
bag.
The LRU
refused to give any comment at the scene and at the time of this report.
