NANS congratulates new SGF, Boss Mustapha, calls for decisive action on Maina
The National
Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Monday hailed the appointment of Mr
Boss Mustapha as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The
association, in a press statement signed by its National Public Relations
Officer, Comrade Okereafor Bestman Opeyemi, also called for decisive action
against the former Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Mr
Abdulrasheed Maina.
NANS,
however, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for prompt action on the report
panel headed by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo, which eventually indicted the
former SGF, and Mr Ayo Oke, the earswhile Director General of National
Intelligence Agency (NIA) over corruption related cases.
“We have no
doubt in the anti corruption crusade of Mr President, which is evident with the
sack of the earlier suspended SGF Mr. Babachir Lawal and the former NIA boss
Ambassador Ayoola Oke based on corruption charges”, he said.
It,
therefore, charged the new SGF to reciprocate the trust reposed in him and
serve the nation wholeheartedly without blemish.
“NANS is
conclusively calling on the newly appointed SGF to see the appointment as a
clarion call to service, based on tested and proven integrity.
“We call on
President Muhammadu Buhari to sack and investigate cabinet members who brought
in Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina through the back door”, the statement added.
