Gov Ayade Made Me Dump APC – Ex-Lawmaker Reveals
Former House
of Representatives Member, Hon. Ernest Irek has left the All Progressives
Congress, APC to the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State.
Hon. Irek,
who represented the people of Obubra/Etung in the Green Chambers and also
former Deputy Chairman of the PDP in the state said his returning to the party
he left sometime ago was because of the State governor, Senator Ben Ayade.
He made this
known on Tuesday in his home town in Obubra Local Government Area of the State
while defecting with his thousand supporters, adding that, “My coming back to
the People’s Democratic Party was as a result of my bosom friend, Prof. Sen.
Ben. Ayade who have been a friend of mine even while I was in the opposition
party (APC).”
The Big
Masquerade as his fondly called said the PDP is a great party that recognises
change and doesn’t discriminate. “PDP is a great party that recognises change,
a party that recognises competition and not a party that discriminates one
another.”
Irek further
said that, “today’s PDP is a PDP that will keep recognising the people of
Obubra,” adding that, “those who think that Obubra people won’t progress in
politics, will end up not progressing.”
He concluded
that Obubra people have been taken for granted for too long, adding that,
“there’s no complete Obubra without Sen. Prof. Ben. Ayade.”
Receiving
Irek and his supporters, Governor Ayade, ably represented by Hon. Peter Egba,
Commissioner for Commerce and Industry said, “We are glad you came back and the
PDP will treat you as equal as everyone else.”
He added
that, “PDP is ready to receive anyone that want to return or join the party. No
matter where you’re coming from, we will always receive you with warm arms.”
Speaking
also was Dr. Sandy Onoh, Cross River State Central Senatorial District PDP
candidate, who said Chief Ernest Irek is the durability and the capacity that
sustain politics.
The
Caterpillar as he’s popularly called said Irek has brought vitality, greatness
and momentum to the people and the party.
“The Obubra
people need men like Chief Ernest Irek, because he understands the game of politics
and he bring the cutting edge to politics.”
Ntufam Onor
fumed at the level of marginalisation in Obubra politics, pleading that, “I
will collaborate with the people and as the Senator of the Federal Republic of
Nigeria to give Obubra people a better place in the state.”
He showed so
much delight in welcoming the Big Masquerade back to the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP). “I welcomes you with all the experience you have, with all the
bodies and all the love and patriotism you have for Obubra people.”
He Pleaded
with the people of Obubra to join hands with Hon. Irek, stating that, “there’s
nothing as good as cooperation, as unity, as oneness.”
He concluded
by saying that the boat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is empty, as he
applauded the people of Obubra for their hospitality and generosity in all
ramifications.
